Abstract

915,206. Mine roof supports. DOBSON Ltd., W. E. & F. Feb. 3, 1960 [Feb. 7, 1959], No. 4373/59. Class 20 (2). In an advancing mine roof support comprising two horizontally-adjustable base members 1, 1A provided with hydraulic props 2, 2A for supporting a head beam 3, 3A having a projecting cantilever 7 pivoted thereto, the cantilever has at least one beam 8 mounted thereon by a pivot and elongated slot connection 8a, 8b, 9 inclined as shown, whereby the beam may adjust itself to the contour of the roof. A beam 8 may be provided along each side of the cantilever, the two beams being interconnected by a bridge, see Fig. 2 (not shown). Again, the beam may be hydraulically actuated and the cantilever may be provided with two longitudinally-spaced beams, see Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), respectively.
