Abstract

773,329. Side delivery rakes. BAMFORDS, Ltd. May 10, 1954 [May 8, 1953], No. 12836/53. Class 6(3). A side delivery rake comprises at least two longitudinally spaced rows of reels 11, 12 with the axes of the mutually adjacent reels of any one row spaced apart so that mutually adjacent reels in any one row do not overlap, each reel in any one row being rotatable independently of each of the reels in the remaining row or rows, the reels 11 of a more rearward row in the direction of travel of the machine being positioned in relation to the adjoining reels 12 of a relatively forward row so that their lowermost peripheral portions lie on lines extending in the direction of travel and which pass through the gaps between the lowermost peripheral portions of mutually adjacent reels of the forward row. Each reel is mounted on a cranked axle B. The machine may be converted to a swath turner by providing a supplementary frame 18, the two rear-most pairs of reels or the two fore-most pairs of reels being mounted on the frame 18 as shown in dotted lines. The frame 10 may be constructed in two parts in such a manner that the rear or front portion of the frame carrying two of the four pairs of reels can be swung into a position spaced laterally of the remaining two pairs of reels. The machine is provided with a fixed wheel 19 and two castor wheels, provision being made for adjusting the wheel 19 about a vertical axis and for fixing the wheel in the adjusted position. The front end of the machine is arranged to be coupled to a tractor by means of drawbars 20, 21.
