Abstract

772,811. Animal traps. SELFSET, Ltd. Jan. 20, 1954 [Oct. 21, 1954], No. 30355/54. Class 5(1). An animal trap comprises a jaw 15 pivotally mounted on a base 10 and a setting member 16 which may either be integral with the jaw as in Fig. 1, or else is pivotally mounted on the base and has a lug engaging under the jaw, both arrangements being such that depression of the setting member towards the base 10 causes the jaw to be lifted to its " set " position. Also pivotally mounted on the base are a bait-holding member 20 and a latch member 26, the latter extending through a slot in the setting member. As the setting member is depressed towards the base, the latching member is guided into engagement with a hole 28 in the bait-holding member thus " setting " the trap, the latter being released by an animal exerting pressure on the bait-holding member 20. The invention may be modified by substituting a trip plate for the bait-holding member. Specification 668,634 is referred to.
