Abstract

769,717. Clamp fastenings. WALKER, Ltd., T. July 27, 1955 [Sept. 29, 1954], No. 28051/54. Class 44. [Also in Group VII] A belt buckle of the kind. having a lever-grip device for securing it to the normally fixed end of a belt, comprises a main buckle frame 1 with the prong-carrying end 1a secured rigidly to one end of an extension plate 4 which has its opposite end 9 bent rearwardly to form a gripping-edge in combination with a rear clamping-plate 11 provided with a pair of forwardly extending lugs 13 each of which has an aperture 14 to receive a trunnion 8, Fig. 1 (not shown), extending laterally from the end portion 9 of the extension plate 4, so that when the clamping-plate 11 and extension plate 4 are swung outwardly relative to one another the end 16 of a belt can be either inserted between, or removed from, the co-operating gripping parts 9 and 11. The gripping edge 9 is preferably toothed or serrated to engage with the fixed end of a belt. In the example the end of the clamping-plate 11 remote from the buckle frame 1 carries a fixed, forwardly-extending, keeper-loop 20 through which the fixed end 16 of the belt is passed, and which can also receive the free end of the belt extending from the buckle frame.
