768,549. Portable containers. COOKSON, W. Aug. 31, 1954 [Sept. 21, 1953], No. 26005/53. Class 66. A metal band 4, Fig. 2, formed with two walls adapted to fit over the rim of a drum 6 of composition material, has an externally stepped edge 2 connected by a slanting wall 3 to the inner wall 5. The band is swaged or spun on to the container below its slanting wall 3 as shown in Fig. 4 to form an internal bead 8 in the drum. Fig. 5 illustrates a modification in the swaging or spinning operation whereby a closing disc 14 may be secured in position.
