767,468. Storing gases under pressure. SPECIALTIES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Feb. 25, 1955 [July 2, 1954]. No. 5674/55. Class 8(2). [Also in Group XXI] A time delay apparatus located between a source 14 Fig. 1 of liquid or gaseous carbon dioxide and valves 11 of carbon dioxide containers 10 which discharge in to a manifold 12 when the valves 11 are opened by pressure from the source 14 comprises a carbon dioxide container 22 charged from the source 14 at a predetermined pressure through 'a metering tube 25 Fig. 2 having a length at least 100 times its bore of between .02 and .03 inch, and a valve 44 in an outlet 20 connecting the source 14 to the valves 11 and operated by a piston 50 in a cylinder 46 connected by a duct 49 to the interior of the container 22. Connection between the container inlet 19 and the outlet 20 and duct 21 leading to the valves 11 may also be effected by opening a pilot valve 54 by a manual knob 55. In a modification the duration of charging the container 22 may be reduced by means of a second metering tube in parallel with the first or by means of a simple by-pass tube.
