[Also in Group XXVIII] Dust and fluff are removed from textile machines, particularly spinning machines, by one or more air jets directed from a row of nozzles arranged longitudinally of the machine and which direct the dust and fluff into a collecting trough that serves as a conveyer channel along which the dust and fluff pass into a receiver. In one form of apparatus applied to a pair of spinning frames facing each other, Fig. 1, a pipe 33 extends along one frame near to the floor and has holes that direct jets of air beneath the frame and across the gangway 1 into the zone affected by jets from a further pipe 28 that direct the dust from beneath both machines and the gangway into a trough 29 of arcuate cross-section. In order to move the accumulations of material towards the end of the trough, the jets from the pipe 28 leave the pipe at an angle of about 45 degrees and arrangements are made for transferring material from the end of the trough into the receiver. Jets from pipes 10 direct material on the flyer supports 3 into troughs 13. Guide plates may be arranged above and below the holes, in the air pipes to prevent the jets from fanning out. Automatic means for applying the air jets at timed, intervals may be provided and manual adjustment of air pressure is also contemplated. In another embodiment, a nozzle 37, Fig. 7, is guided in a slot in an air pipe 34, the slot normally being closed by a rubber or other strip 38, and the nozzle is either traversed along a straight pipe by a chain 36 or carried in a circuit along two sides of a machine. For use on carding machines, a collecting trough integral with the nozzles may be provided.
