Abstract

765,653. Agricultural implements. ALLISCHALMERS MANUFACTURING CO. July 26, 1954 [Aug. 13, 1953], No. 21793/54. Class 6(1). A hitch system for connecting a tractor provided with transversely spaced lift arms 4 to an implement 26 comprises a loop 53 on the implement which engages a manually operable hook 18 mounted in a bellshaped housing 13 and releasable locking means for connecting the lift arms 4 with lift links 47 pivotally attached to the implement. As shown the hook 18 is operated by a foot pedal 22 to disengage the hook from the loop. The lift arms 4 are each formed with a groove 37 which is engaged by a latch member 38 pivoted on a coupling sleeve 36 which slides on the end of the lift arm 4 and is pivoted on the link 47. The latch 38 has a rounded bottom edge 44 and the edge 46 of the groove 37 is also rounded so that when the sleeve 36 is subjected to a substantial pull in the direction of its axis as shown in Fig. 6 when the loop 53 has been disengaged from the hook 18, the latch will be disengaged from the groove causing the lift arms 4 to separate from the links 47.
