Abstract

764,819. Roofs, walls, glazing bars. DUTRIE, A. P. March 28, 1955 [April 8, 1954; Oct. 27, 1954], No. 8942/55. Classes 20(3) and 20(4), A glazing bar, made, e.g. of drawn, or extruded, aluminium, is of general I-shape cross-section with unequal cross-members 1, 7, the lower cross-member 1, having high intermediate ledges 2, 3 to support the panes 4, 5 of a first glazing layer, being extended at 17, 18, and raised, beyond the ledges 2, 3 to form end ledges 19, 20 for supporting a second glazing layer 5a, and the upper cross-member 7 being provided with two undercut grooves, in each of which is fitted a ridge 10, or 11, of a profiled sealing strip, made, e.g. of vinyl chloride, and having its flanges. 13, 14 pressed firmly on to the upper faces of the panes 4, 5. A channel 6, for the reception of heads of fixing bolts (not shown) is locate on the underside of the bar. Resilient packing strips 21 engage the rounded edges 19a, 20a of the ledges 19, 20 to press up upon the under face of the glazing layer 5a. The latter is also pressed down on to the ledges 19, 20 by means ot metal plates 23 whose upper edges hook into grooves 24 below the upper edges of the ledges 2, 3. The bar shown in Fig. 2 may be used for the construction of a roof, a flat plate 25, or corrugated plate 26, resting on the flanges 2, 3, and sheets of laminated, or compressed wood, or other insulating material 27, resting upon the ledges 19, 20.
