Abstract

1,024,086. Roofing and walling. R. C. ROLLAND. March 13, 1964 [March 20, 1963], No. 10950/63. Heading E1V. Panels 3 for walling and/or roofing have separate (as shown) or integral edge strips 4 with interengaging sawtoothed upper edges which are held in engagement by cross-like (as shown), T-, or L-shaped clips 17 with channelsectioned arms 18, which co-operate with similarly shaped retainer members 14 locked in position by nuts 20. The edge strips 4 have longitudinal holes 10 to allow for distortion. The flanges of the channel-sectioned arms 18 may have inturned top edges (Fig. 8, not shown). The panels are tied down to the structural framework by rods 28 (Fig. 4, not shown) located, e.g. in the ends of columns 30, which rods have heads 27 located in swiveljoint blocks 23 which receive balls 21 on the ends of the rods 16a (Fig. 4) or 16b (Fig. 6, not shown), the latter being used in conjunction with turnbuckles 7 connecting them to the aforementioned rods 16. The panels may be staggered relative to one another (Fig. 7, not shown) and may be double-skinned as shown, or may be integral plastics trays.
