Abstract

764,563. Couplings for vehicles. MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR AKT.-GES. Feb. 10, 1955 [Feb. 16, 1954], No. 4001/55. Class 103(5). A draw bar 9 from a tractor is connected to a fixed axle 2 of an agricultural machine by pivot pins 6 and U-shaped shackles, 7, 8, and is extended to tow a trailer behind the machine by a rail 10 of rectangular cross-section, on which rail a sliding rider 11 having a coupling jaw 17 may be adjustably secured by engaging a pin 12 in one of a series of holes 13. The rail 10 is strutted by a rod 14 fixed at one end to a rotatable sleeve 15 and at the other end adjustably positioned to. one of three eyes 16. The pin 12 may be disengaged to allow the rider 11 to slide and increase the effective length of the rail 10 when negotiating turns and so on, by the driver pulling a member 19 to pivot a bell crank lever 18 against a spring 20 and lift out the pin 12. In a modification the rail 10 may be connected directly and centrally to the tractor.
