Abstract
564,165. Vehicle couplings. FEARN, H. March 12, 1943, No. 4028. [Class 103 (v)] A draw-bar 14, Fig. 1, for connecting mowing or binding machines to the draw-bar cap 12 of a tractor is pivotally attachable to an anchorage 10, secured to the drawbar cap 12, so that the rear end of the bar 14 may be offset on either side as required for the particular kind of machine in use and may pivot about a bolt 17a from the minimum inclination as shown to an extent controlled by an arcuate slot 16 of the bar and a pin 17b on the anchorage 10. The forward end of the bar 14 is inserted in a recess at the rear end of the anchorage and the reversal of the bar face for face enables the bar to be offset on the other side. Pivoting of the bar may be prevented by a pin placed in a hole 22 of the anchorage. In a modification, Fig. 7, the arcuate slot is replaced by stops 117a, 117b, the bar 14 pivoting at 117c. The bar 14 may, as shown in Fig. 3, be rigidly bolted to the anchorage and the machine to be towed attached to a bracket 19.
