Abstract
763,841. Spraying metal coatings. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. April 30, 1954 [Feb. 6, 1953], No. 3410/53. Class 82(2) [Also in Group XXII] A body of aluminium or an aluminium alloy with copper, iron or silicon is cast on to a base of iron or steel by a process wherein the base is first sprayed with a layer of aluminium and is then heated, the aluminium or alloy is then cast on to the sprayed surface and the junction between the aluminium or alloy and the ferrous base is kept at at least 750‹C. for a period of at least 2 minutes. The process is particularly useful for casting a muff of aluminium on to a steel cylinder. The cylinder is first sprayed with a layer of the aluminium and then placed in a mould, the mould and cylinder are heated together and the alloy cast all as set forth above.
