Abstract
761,499. Mechanical garages. MANNHEIMER MASCHINENFABRIK MOHR & FEDERHAFF AKT.-GES., and SICOMATIC AKT.-GES. Aug. 3, 1954 [Aug. 3, 1953], No. 22548/54. Class 78 (4). In a mechanical garage of the kind in which vehicles are parked in compartments arranged side by side at different levels by a horizontally movable transporter tower provided with a lift cage, the vehicles are moved in and out of the cage by a trolley comprising pivotally connected sections 11, 12 which support wheelgripping arms 18, 19 and 20, 21 which are transversely movable on the trolley. The sections 11, 12 are connected by a pivoted rubber member 16 and a link 17 which permit sufficient universal movement between the sections to accommodate differences in level between the cage and the compartment floors. The trolley is engaged with a suitably aligned car by first extending pneumatic ram 29 which through a member 27 and an abutment 31 moves a carriage 23 outwardly to a position in which arms 18, 19 embrace wheel 5, at this stage the carriage 23 is automatically locked to the trolley so that on retraction of ram 29 cam surfaces 27a engage rollers 26 and cause the arms 18, 19 to grip wheel 5. Next a feeler 57 is extended from the side of the trolley and the carriage 35 is moved along rails 48, 50 by a pneumatic ram 51 until the feeler engages wheel 6 whereupon this carriage is stopped and arms 20, 21 are caused to grip wheel 6 by an action similar to that described above in connection with arms 18, 19. Finally, rams 64, 65 are extended and, through rods 66, 67 and cranks 68, 69, the arms carrying the wheels 5, 6 are pivoted upwardly. The vehicle is deposited in the selected compartment by reversing this cycle of operations. The trolley is provided with a pair of pivoted flaps 72, 73 which operate switches 74, 75, thereby stopping the cycle, should the flaps engage a projection on the bottom of the vehicle. The vehicle is guided into a position above a channel in which the trolley runs, by a track (Fig. 3, not shown), one side of which is retracted before the arms are extended from the side of the trolley.
