Abstract

A paint applicator comprises a hollow perforated roller and cover of absorbent material, a mounting by which the roller is rotatably supported at one end only, an off-set handle with a throughway, and supply conduit extending from the mounting to the handle and an inlet connection at the other end of the handle for connection to a supply of paint. The roller comprises a perforated metal tube 19 with absorbent cover 20 secured by end bushes 21, 22. The tube is mounted on end plugs 23, 24 connected by rods 26 and tightened by a screw 25 engaging a thread on a plate 29 connecting the tubes. A sleeve 14 screwed into the end of a supply tube 12 connected to a handle 13 is rotatably supported on ball bearings 31 in the plug 23. The sleeve has a groove 17 with apertures whereby fluid supplied under pressure to the tube 12 is supplied to the interior of the roller. A control valve 39 is provided in the tube. The fluid is stored under pressure in a container having an outlet connected to the valve 39 and fitted with a release valve and pressure gauge. In a modification shown in Fig. 2, the roller is supported on a perforated tube 40 by a closure member 45 and end plug 46 secured by a screw 47 and by an integral member 44. A bracket 51 screwed <PICT:0758351/III/1> <PICT:0758351/III/2> on to a supply tube 57 having a needle valve 60 is rotatably mounted on a sleeve 49 fitting in the member 44.
