754,659. Centrifugal mills. PALLMANN, L. Jan. 26, 1954 [Aug. 27, 1953], No. 2367/54. Class 59. In a centrifugal mill with axial through-put of the ground material and a centrifugal rotor in a mill chamber with a ring-shaped channel and side walls having respectively an input opening and an output opening with the input opening of smaller diameter than the output opening, the output opening for the material which has been ground to a predetermined degree of fineness is in the form of a ring-shaped output slit located on the side opposite the input opening and having its inner boundary formed by a circular disc mounted upon the shaft carrying the rotor. In the single-stage mill shown in Fig. 1, the chamber comprises two parts 1, 2, the part 1, which has a feed hopper 5 secured thereto, having a central opening which is smaller than that in the part 2, the latter opening being adjustable by means of interchangeable circular ring screens 6. Disposed in the mill chamber is a rotor 11 attached to a driving shaft 9 and provided with a boss enlarged to the form of a disc 12 between the outer edge of which and the screen 6 is formed a narrow slit through which the ground material is discharged to a channel 7. The parts 1, 2 are provided with interchangeable impact surfaces consisting of ribbed steel plates 13, 14. The part 1 is hinged vertically to the part 2 and is locked in position by means of hand wheels. In the two-stage mill shown in Fig. 3, two rotors 17, 18 mounted on a driven shaft 15 are disposed inside centrifugal chambers 19, 20 respectively. The central opening in the wall 25 of the chamber 19 is smaller than the opening 34 in the wall 26 which in turn is smaller than the opening 33 in the wall 31 of the chamber 20. The opening 33 can be adjusted by means of a circular ring screen and a circular disc combined with the mill housing can be inserted in the opening 33 to form a ring slit. The rotor 17 in the chamber 19 is provided with a boss 28 enlarged to a disc 27. The chambers 19, 20 are provided with steel impact members 23, 24, 32. The ground material is discharged through a channel 30.
