Abstract
1362164 Ball mills ALLIS-CHALMERS CORP 30 March 1973 [3 April 1972] 15373/73 Heading B2A A tube mill 10 comprises a discharge diaphragm assembly 22, Fig.1, with a diaphragm 24 including grates 26, wear plates 28, and a discharge cone 30 having or being associated with vanes 34, Fig. 2. These vanes may be carried by the cone 30 or be carried by a line mounted on the end wall 14 of the mill. Lifter vanes 36, Fig. 2, are positioned in the discharge compartment between the diaphragm 24 and the end wall 14 and extend radially for a relatively short distance, less than the distance between the periphery and the axis of the shell. Thus there is a substantial space between the two sets of vanes 34, 36 and material lifted by the vanes 31 can fall freely as at A or B, Fig. 2 into the spaces 32 between the vanes 34, and be discharged whether the mill is run clockwise or counter clockwise. The system improves discharge efficiency.
