Abstract
In briquetting fine ores with water glass, the moulded mixture is subjected to hydrolysis by the addition of weak organic acids, e.g., acetic, formic, tartaric, oxalic, benzoic, salicylic, phthalic, as by spraying or soaking so that 0,01-0,03 per cent is absorbed. Esters of such acids or alcohols or compounds containing aromatic hydroxyl groups, e.g., phenol or naphthol, or acetone, may also be used for this purpose. The briquette strength may be increased by heating during or after the hydrolysis for e.g., 2 to 3 minutes.ALSO:In briquetting fine coal or fire ores with water glass, the moulded mixture is subjected to hydrolysis by the addition of weak organic acids, e.g. acetic, formic, tartaric, oxalic, benzoic, salicylic, phthalic, as by spraying or soaking so that 0.01-0.03 per cent is absorbed. Esters of such acids or alcohols or compounds containing aromatic hydroxyl groups, e.g. phenol or naphthol, or acetone, may also be used for this purpose.
