Abstract

754,284. Machine guns. BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES SOC. ANON. July 13, 1954 [July 27, 1953], No. 20477/54. Class 92 In a gun with the Hispano action in which the release of the breech block locking mechanism is effected by pistons 26 and push rods 27 arranged in cylindrical housings 23 in the breech case 2 and operated by gases tapped from the detachable barrel 1, the gases are fed along passages 19, 20 into cylinders 17 on the barrel and having pistons 21 with axial passages 22, the arrangement being such than on firing, the gases apply each piston 21 in a gas-tight manner against the apertured end plug 24 of the housing 23 and a portion of the gases passes through passages 22, 25 into the housing 23 to operate the release mechanism. The portion of the passage 19 located rearward of the point from which branch the passages 20 forms a dead end in which accumulate impurities in the powder gases. The rear edges of the barrel cylinder 17 are not tightly applied against the plugs 24 so that clogging produced by gas impurities is prevented and there is no difficulty in detaching the barrel from the breech case.
