Abstract

753,968. Suction cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. Sept. 13, 1954 [Sept. 17, 1953], No. 26489/54. Class 8(1). A nozzle of a suction cleaner or suction cleaning tool has an elongated suction mouth provided with brush bristles 58 along one long edge and a row of resilient combing fingers 49 along the other long edge. The fingers 49 are formed on a resilient member 45 held against the front flange 27 of the nozzle by a bottom plate 30 which is bent to form a U-shaped rear flange 34. The bristles 58 are mounted on a brush back 57 which is slidable in a housing 55 and pushed out by a spring 59. It may be retracted and held by a spring clip released by a lever 68. The fingers 49 and bristles 58 are inclined towards each other. The bottom plate 30 is formed at each end of the nozzle with skids 38 or other supporting surfaces.
