Abstract

753,418. Stirrups. MARJIM HOLDINGS PTY., Ltd. Aug. 17, 1954 [Aug. 24, 1953], No. 23906/54. Class 62. In a safety arrangement in which a stirrup 14 is attached to a stirrup strap 9 by a latch which opens when the stirrup is inclined to the normal position, the latch comprises a metal plate 5 having an integral tongue 12 which passes through a slot in the stirrup and engages a retaining spring 15 riveted to the plate. If the stirrup is inclined relatively to the latch, it engages the lower edge 17 of the plate and urges the spring away from the tongue 12. An alternative construction formed by casting is shown in Fig. 6.
