Abstract
753,408. Valve accessories. DEWRANCE & CO., Ltd. July 2, 1954 [July 2, 1953], No. 19455/54. Class 135. A valve cover 2 with a flange 8 having a conical clamping surface 10 is secured in sealing position on a valve body or casing 1 having a flange 7 with a conical clamping surface 9 of opposite taper by a circular series of clamping members 11 with spaced radially inwardly projecting lugs 12, 13 having conical surfaces corresponding to the surfaces 9, 10, radial inward movement of the clamping members 11 being effected by axial movement of a locking ring 14 relative to the clamping members, the outer surfaces of which are tapered to correspond to the conical internal surface 17 of the locking ring. Such relative axial movement is effected by nuts 24 engaging a series of bolts 16 pivoted to lugs 19 on the ring 14 and engaging slots 22 in an abutment ring 18 which has a recess 21 to locate the clamping members. The parts are tightened or released by adjustment of the nuts. The usual valve spindle 6 is supported in a gland 5.
