749,967. Band clips. SCHAUMANN, H. W., [trading as SCHOCK KOMM.-GES., R.]. July 5, 1954, No. 19660/54. Class 44. In a hose clip for securing a hose 1 to a pipe 2 by means of a flexible metal band 3, the ends of which are adjustably attached to a nut 5 which carries an adjustable set screw 9 extending radially of the hose, the head 10 of the screw abutting a cap 4 engaging over the nut and supported by the hose so that on tightening the screw the ends of the metal band are passed between the nut and the cap, the set screw being shorter than the smallest distance between the surface 11 of the cap serving to secure the head of the screw and the surfaces 12, 13 of the edges of the cap by which the cap is supported on the hose, the nut on both sides of the threaded opening therein is provided with slots 6, 7 through which the ends of the metal band are loosely drawn and turned outwardly in opposite directions so that on tightening the screw, the oppositely turned ends of the metal band are capable of being clamped within the gaps between the cap and nut. The walls of the cap are inclined so that as the screw is tightened, the clearance between the nut and the cap diminishes. The walls of the cap are of reduced height where the band passes into the cap so that they do not press against the band.
