Class 7(2) [Also in Group XIII] In a cooling system (see Group XIII) fora liquid-cooled internal combustion engine particularly for a diesel-electric locomotive, the radiator cooling fan may be driven by the engine through a variable. transmission such as a hydraulic coupling regulated in dependence upon the temperature of the coolant, or the fan may be driven by an electric motor operated by the vehicle battery or in a diesel-electric plant by the main generator so that an adequate fan speed may be maintained irrespective of engine speed.
