Abstract
747,027. Protective arrangements for electrical measuring instruments. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 17, 1954 [Sept. 28, 1953], No. 26653/53. Class 37. A P-N junction rectifier R, Fig. 3, is arranged in series with a meter M, poled so as to present its reverse resistance. Over a range of current, for example 20 micro-amps, the voltage drop is insignificant, Fig. 2, but during overload conditions the resistance and therefore the voltage drop across. the rectifier increases rapidly, Fig. 1 (not shown). A second rectifier R<SP>1</SP> may be added to avoid overload due to current in the reverse direction.
