745,823. Heating air in fireplaces. BLAKEY, J. B. Oct. 13, 1953 [Oct. 13, 1952], No. 25554/52. Class 64(3). An air heating chamber 11 at the inner side of the tiled surround 1 of a fireplace, above the fire opening, is connected by channels 3, 7, within or carried by the surround, to upper air inlet and lower air outlet openings, which may be covered by grids 9. A plate 13 divides the chamber 11, and the upper wall of each inlet channel 3 extends into the chamber 11 to form a baffle. The air inlets may be in the raised hearth 19, or the inlets and outlets may be in the front or side of the surround.
