Class 64(1) Air to be heated flows upwardly through at least one hollow baffle 6 of elongated cross-section located in a combustion chamber 1 between a pot burner 2 and a flue outlet 5 in one side wall, the baffle penetrating the top and bottom walls of the chamber. The single baffle 6 shaped as shown in horizontal section may be replaced by four hollow bodies joined together by vertical webs.
