896,519. Forming selvedges. DODGSON (ARDON) Ltd., ARTHUR. May 15, 1959 [March 12, 1959], No. 8535/59. Class 142(2) A pin A around which the weft is looped to keep the fabric at its correct width is withdrawn upwardly and forwardly during beat-up. Class 142(2) Failure of a shuttle to box causes a solenoid to raise a wire 22 which allows a spring-loaded toggle 18, 20 to break and a rod 12 to move to the left (as in Figs. 2 and 4) to cause a cranked lever 27 to move anti-clockwise to move a spring loaded rod 29 to disengage a clutch 37, 59 and apply a brake 44 to stop the loom. The starting mechanism 2 remains in its engaged position and the loom is restarted by straightening the toggle 18, 20 either by operation of the mechanism 2 or by a handle 19. The clutch and brake are independently adjustable for synchronization.
