Abstract

743,343. Trueing grinding wheels; diamond tools. PRECISION DIAMOND PRODUCTS, Ltd. March 19, 1954 [Feb. 23, 1953], No. 5031/53. Classes 60 and 124 A dressing tool comprises a substantially spherical tool head 1 containing the dressing medium 3 and a substantially spherical tool holder, divided into two parts 4, 5, secured together. The tool head is substantially spherical with a' flat face 2 in which diamonds. 3 are arranged heterogeneously or in one or more lines while the two parts 4, 5 are located in relation to each other by shallow projections 9 and recesses to form a mounting for the head 1. A shank 10 enables the holder to be clamped in a machine and screws 6 enable the head to be clamped in desired position to the holder. A single diamond may be mounted in the head 1 which is rotated from time to time to bring different surfaces of the diamond into operative position. The face 2 is normally positioned tangentially to the circumference of grinding wheel 11 or other article to be dressed. The parts may be made from brass, steel or stainless steel.
