Abstract

740,802. Reservoir pens. CUSHMAN & DENISON CO., Ltd., and CUSHMAN, J. S. Oct. 29, 1951 [Aug. 1, 1950], No. 19208/50. Class 146(3) A reservoir pen comprises a barrel, not shown, constituting an ink reservoir, a chuck 13 at the forward end of the barrel, an annular valve seat 16 in the chuck co-operating with a valve 18 and a sealing washer 19 nor mally urged towards the seat by a spring 21, and a nib 22 of fibrous material slidable in the chuck. The nib 22 may comprise a rod-shaped piece of felt having a pointed, chisel, blade, or T- shaped writing end. Alternatively, the nib may be a fine rod of felt enclosed in a metal sleeve. The nib 22 is recharged with ink from the reservoir by pressing the nib more strongly on to the paper or other surface; thus lifting the valve 18 from its seat 16.
