Abstract

Two-colour or two-tone designs are produced on textile fabrics by applying a dyestuff to selected areas of the fabric and then, while the fabric is still wet with the dyestuff, quickly applying another dye-stuff to the fabric, whereby the first applied dyestuff acts in the selected areas as a reserve towards the second and the second applied dyestuff prevents migration of the first, the fabric then being treated to fix the dyestuffs and finally being washed and dried. Napthol, vat including Indigosol, direct and azo dyestuffs may be applied and, in the case of naphthol dyes, a single coupling component may be applied subsequently to two different naphthols. Examples are given.
