Abstract

Union fabrics of aromatic polyester and cellulose fibres are dyed by first dyeing with a reactive dye and thereafter dyeing with a disperse dye in each case by a method known from the literature or used in practice. The first stage may be carried out by dyeing on the jig or winch or padding followed by heating or preferably by padding with an alkaline solution of reactive dye, if desired containing adjuvents, e.g. anionic or non-ionic wetting agents and migration inhibitors then storing the moist fabric at ambient temperature. The second dyeing step may be preceded by washing but this is usually effected simultaneously with the dyeing itself. The disperse dyes may be applied at 85-150 DEG C. with or without carriers together with usual adjuvents, e.g. anti-foam agents, anionic wetting agents, sequestering agents and acids or alkalis. Examples of union-and cross-dyeing are given.
