Abstract

737,840. Spray carburetters. MAY, F. Nov. 18, 1953 [Feb. 6, 1953], No. 32005/53. Class 7(3). Enhanced engine suction at low loads downstream of the carburetter throttle p acts through a rubber or other flexible hose m on a piston or diaphragm to open a spring-loaded valve c and vent through a duct h a passage r to interrupt the induced supply at high loads to the carburetter venturi throat of a mixture of air and water through a bleed k and jet f respectively. Soluble oil or methylated spirits may be added to the water, and the duct h may be connected to the crankcase so that fumes therefrom are added to the charge at low loads instead of merely extra air. The water intake is manually controlled by a screw g. Dual carburetter venturis may be supplied from the passage r via a T-piece.
