734,526. Football boots. WARD, H. Sept. 21, 1953 [Oct. 1, 1952], No. 24587/52. Class 17 (2) A football boot is provided with an instep padding comprising two panels 6 of sponge or cellular rubber on either side of the lace opening and a similar strip 7 lining the tongue 4. The panels 6 are secured at their edges by transverse stitching 8, 9 and are preferably also stuck to the upper and secured by additional stitching 11. The strip 7 is stuck to the tongue 4 and stitched to it at 12. Heel pads 5 may be provided which in the Provisional Specification are stated to be of various shapes and to comprise sheets of sponge or cellular rubber covered and secured by an external leather layer. The stiffened toe cap may, according to the Provisional Specification, be lined with a sheet of sponge rubber stuck to it.
