Abstract

543,084. Boots &c. M. C. S. S. CO., Ltd., and BOWLES, B. J. Jan. 20, 1941, No. 751. [Class 17 (ii)] The marginal edges of a shoe upper A lasted and tacked to an insole 8 are housed in a recess in a through sole B formed by an integral or attached wedge-shaped rib 2, which is flat at its top to simulate a welt. The upper, insole, and through sole are secured by stitches to an intermediate sole C, in which case an outer sole D is attached by cement, or to the outer sole. The rib is covered wholly or in part by a strip 6, which can be ornamented in various ways. A wedge or other heel may be provided.
