Abstract
734,495. Filling and closing containers. LYONS & CO., Ltd., J., WHITE, P., and MONEY, R. W. Jan. 26, 1953 [Nov. 8, 1951], No. 26193/51. Class 94 (1). Containers 13 of the type described in Specification 708,813 are pushed in succession along a conveyer 14 from a storage space 12 to the.platform 16 of a weighing machine 15, and the desired weight of liquid is supplied to each inner bag through a nozzle 17 carried by a counterweighted arm 18 pivoted on a horizontal axis. The liquid is supplied from a reservoir 23 and is pumped around a closed pipe circuit 26 to which the arm and nozzle may be connected by operation of a valve 27. A second filling nozzle 17<SP>1</SP> and arm 18<SP>1</SP> may. be supplied from the same circuit. The container is then moved along the conveyer to heat sealing apparatus 19 of conventional type, which applies heat and pressure to seal the neck of the bag, and a device 20, also of conventional type, which applies a metal closure to the outer drum after the neck of the bag has been tucked in. The container is then moved to the end of the conveyer and loaded on to a trolley 22.
