734,227. Pipe couplings. METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Feb. 1, 1954 (March 25, 1953], No. 8280/53. Class 99 (1). A pipe coupling comprises a first pipe 1 with a collar 3 and a spigot 2 adapted to abut against a plane annular end face on a second pipe 4, a sealing ring 9 adapted to surround the spigot 2 and be compressed between the collar 3 and the end face of the second pipe yet free to expand radially, and clamping means comprising a screwed union nut 7 having a flange 8 engaging the collar 3, the coupling being arranged so that any pipe in a line having such couplings is removable from the line without disturbance of the remainder of the line. The ring 9 is preferably an oil-resisting synthetic rubber ring.
