Abstract

915,646. Pipe joints. CHIKSAN CO. March 2, 1961 [April 25, 1960; June 16, 1960], No. 7647 /61. Class 99(1). [Also in Group XXVI]. A combination swivel pipe joint and pipe union comprises a conduit member 10 and a tubular coupling member 12 interconnected by means of a nut 16 rotatably mounted on the member 10 and screw threads 27. The two members 10, 12 have interengaging annular end surfaces of arcuate cross-section. A second conduit member 18 is rotatably received within the coupling member 12 and an annular seal 20 establishes a static fluid seal with the conduit member 10 and a dynamic fluid seal with the conduit member 18. In another embodiment a sealing ring is placed between the coupling member 12 and the first and second conduit members 10, 18 respectively, the two sealing rings being separated by an internal flange on the coupling member.
