734,136. Electric lighting fittings. HODGSON, J. A. S. Jan. 6, 1954 [Jan. 6, 1953], No. 357/53. Classes 75 (3) and 75 (4). A lighting fitting for a tank or other vessel comprises a mounting ring or base which is adapted to be permanently secured to a wall c of the vessel around an opening therein, a domed bowl f of heat-resisting glass adapted to project inwardly into the vessel and having a peripheral rim engaging a seating on the base, and a rigid domed cover h adapted to be detachably secured to the base on the outside of the vessel, as by bolts k, and carrying an electric lamp holder p, and having an opening provided with a hinged door r through which access to the lamp can be obtained. The mounting ring may be formed in two parts a, b clamped by rivets d to the outside and inside, respectively, of the tank, the inner part b having a stepped flange e forming the seat for the rim of the bowl f. Packing rings g are located above and below the rim of the bowl f. Alternatively the mounting ring is formed as a thickening of the wall e. The lamp-holder p is so directed that the lamp bulb extends into the glass bowl f. The door r is hinged and is held closed by a threaded stud u carrying a wing nut t.
