Abstract

734,099. Electromagnetic switches. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GES. Feb. 27, 1953 [Feb. 29, 1952; March 20, 1952; June 9, 1952; Sept. 18, 1952; Nov. 14, 1952], No. 5543/53. Class 38 (5). A contactor comprises a U - shaped metal yoke 1 embracing an E-shaped magnet 2, coil 3, and armature 2a attached to an insulating movable contact carrier 4. The yoke is made of U-section material, the edges a, b serving as guide surfaces for lugs 5 and cross-bars 5<SP>1</SP> of the carrier, Fig. 1. Springs 6 fixed at their lower ends to the yoke 1 bias the carrier 4 upwardly through brackets 12 slidable on the yoke 1 and which receive projections 13 of the carrier. The carrier 4 receives in channels 4b spring-biased bridging contacts 9 the contacts engaging respective pairs of fixed contacts 10 situated on opposite sides of the yoke when the coil 3 is energized. An insulating cover 8 secured by screws to lugs 7 of the yoke 1 is formed with separate arcing chambers 17 for the several sets of contacts. The separating walls of the chambers may be extended to form projections 22 which hold the coil 3 in position on rubber cushions 23. Insulating coverplates 11 may be provided at the sides of the yoke 1.
