Abstract
732,732. Valves. ROOSA, V. D. April 2, 1953 [April 4, 1952], No. 9252/53. Class 7(6). [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] In a fuel pump for an internal combustion engine and of the kind comprising a rotary block 48 containing a pair of radially disposed plungers 52 which are reciprocated by a stationary cam ring 54, fuel is fed by a rotary vane pump 38 through a passage 14 and an annular groove 46 in a rotary distributer 28 to a valve 72 (see Group XXIX) which maintains a substantially constant rate of flow and thence through an adjustable restriction 142 to a port 18 with which passages 32 in the distributer are successively connected to permit fuel to flow through a passage 30 during the suction strokes of the plungers 52. On each delivery stroke a passage 34 in the distributer connects the passage 30 with one of a series of outlets 20 leading to each engine cylinder.
