732,496. Contact-members for switches; electromagnetic switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and THORNE, A. R. H. Jan. 15, 1954 [Jan. 16, 1953], No. 1359/53. Class 38 (5). A pair of fixed contacts 1, 2 bridged by a moving contact 8 comprises two identicalangled strips clamped to conductors 5, 6, respectively, and having pairs of contact surfaces T. Hence, by interchanging the contacts 1, 2, those surfaces T which were originally co-operating with the contact 8 are replaced by the other surfaces T and the life of the fixed contacts is thereby doubled. The strips may be of copper and the surfaces T of silver; similarly, the bar 8 may be of copper and have silver tips 9. As shown, the contacts comprise one pole of a multi-pole contactor, the moving contacts being resiliently mounted on a common operating member 4 moved vertically by a solenoid.
