Abstract
731,794. Filtering air. BRITISH BATA SHOE CO., Ltd. March 12, 1952 [Nov. 17, 1950], No. 28140/50. Class 8 (2). Apparatus for separating dust from air comprises a vertical casing divided e.g., by partitions 8, 9 into upper, intermediate and lower compartments 3, 4, 5 a fan 12 located centrally within the compartment 3 drawing dust-laden air up a central duct 13 and delivering it from the compartment 3 down one or more open ended filter sleeves 15 located in the compartment 4, the dust being retained on the inside of the sleeve or sleeves 15 and subsequently falling into the compartment 5 whilst the cleaned air traverses the filter walls to the compartment 4 for subsequent discharge to atmosphere. The partition 9 to which the lower ends of the sleeves 15 are secured is resiliently mounted on an annular ring 10 and is guided by telescoping tubes 19, 20 during either intermittent or continuous filter shaking effected by a cam 23 abutting a collar 24 on a shaker rod 25.
