Abstract
599,651. Dust filters. HYLAND, W. Sept. 22, 1945, No. 24615. [Class 8 (ii)] A vacuum cleaner dust bag of permeable material and of the type attached to the cleaner and into which a stream of dust-laden air is blown through an inlet at the lower end, is divided into a first compartment comprising impermeable walls, a dust-laden air inlet at the lower end, and an outlet located so that it delivers into the upper part of a second permeable walled compartment in a substantially horizontal direction ; the dust gravitating to the bottom of the second compartment whilst air traverses the permeable walls. Fig. 1 shows a bag having an impermeable walled compartment X, separated from a permeable walled compartment Y by an impermeable partition 10. The cap 2a of the compartment Y against which dust-laden air is delivered at 11 from the compartment X may be of impermeable material. In a modification, the compartment X is surrounded by and spaced from the compartment Y, and in a further modification the walls of compartment X lie outside the compartment Y. Settled dust is removed through a detachable closure 13.
