Abstract
890,151. Gas filters. HOLMAN BROS. Ltd. Aug. 19, 1958 [Aug. 21, 1957], No. 26469/57. Class 8(2). Cleaning of a plurality of outward flow filter bags 15 suspended by a frame 41 and spring 42 from a surrounding casing 29 having a dustladen air inlet duct 30 opening into the open bottom of each bag 15 and a clean gas outlet duct 16 leading to a suction pump 10 is effected by sliding a hinged vertical portion 50 of the outlet duct 16 so as to disconnect the lower end 53 from the upper end 54 of the lower portion of the duct 16 and connect the end 53 to atmosphere through a port 59 in a plate 57 carried by the upper end 54 of said lower portion of duet 16. The lower end of portion 50 also carries a plate 56 having a restricted port 60, Fig. 2 (not shown), which in the bag scavenging position registers with the duct end 54 so as to maintain a constant load on the pump 10. The filter is preceded by a conventional cyclone separator 13 and each bag is supported against collapse by a cage 44.
