A cover for haystacks or forming the roof of a shed, has a roof sheet 10, e.g. of aluminium, having one or more rows of hood-like louvres 16, the mouths of which are directed towards one edge of the sheet, and means on at least two opposite edges of the sheet for securing the sheets together. The cover comprises a ridge pole 11 and a number of rows of sheets 10, the lower edge of each row of sheets overlapping the upper edge of the next lower row and being connected thereto by projections 19 in the lower sheets engaging key-hole slots 20 in the upper sheets. The side edges are similarly provided with slots 21 and projections 22. The ridge pole 11 is formed in parts corresponding to each sheet 10, and may rest on the hay or have end spikes for penetrating the hay or may be guyed at each end to the ground. The sheets may be corrugated, having staggered rows of louvres 16, Fig. 2, or may be flat and have a single row 24, Fig. 6, side channels 25 serving to raise the sheet 23 above the hay. In another embodiment the sheets are of arcuate form in side view. Alternatively they may comprise flat sheets of material secured to a frame, a side flange on one panel so-formed engaging a side channel on an adjacent panel, the top and bottom edges having projections and slots as before. One side edge of each panel may, alternatively, be cranked to provide an air gap between panels. Plastics materials, or plastics-impregnated material, may be used instead of aluminium for the sheets. If arcuate sheets are used, the ridge pole may be dispensed with.
