[Class 20(iv)] A roof comprises plates 4 of sheet metal, clay, fibro-cement or plastic material each having an upwardly directed flange 4a at its upper edge and a downwardly directed flange 4b at its lower edge, the flange 4b of one plate overlying the flange 4a of the next lower plate and both flanges being secured to purlins 3 by screws, nails or other fastening means extending in a direction substantially parallel to the slope of the roof. A distance piece 10 may be inserted between the flanges. The ridge cap may be provided with a flange 6<SP>o</SP> to fit over the upper edge of the top plate which may not be provided with a flange 4a or a covering piece 8 may be inserted between the cap and the plate.
