Abstract

729,078. Endless conveyers. STAMICARBON N.V. Jan. 12, 1953 [Jan. 14, 1952], No. 941/53. Class 78(1). In a mine face conveyer of the kind having a fixed trough with side walls, one at least of which has an outwardly facing channel running lengthwise of the conveyer, and means located in the channel permitting the connection to that side of the conveyer of a guide for a cutting machine or an upward wall extension for increasing the capacity of the conveyer, plate members disposed perpendicularly to the length of the conveyer are secured at intervals in the channel, each by means of a weld seam laid at the periphery of the plate member on one or each side face thereof, the said plate members being provided with pins or holes for permitting pin-and-hole connection to the side wall of guide rail or wall extension-forming members. Figs. 1, 2 show the application to a scraper conveyer wherein each section 1 of the conveyer trough comprises walls 2 connected by a plate 3, and plates 7, arranged in pairs at right angles to the walls 2, are secured in the channels 6 of the walls by weld seams laid on both sides of the plates 7 and joined by two short weld seams at the top and bottom of the plates. Members 10, arranged end-to-end to form a guide rail for a coal-cutting machine 11, each have blocks 9 secured thereto by bolts 12, each block being held between a pair of plates 7 by a pin 8 which passes through the block and through holes in the plates, and being shaped so that its rear edge face follows the wall of the channel 6 so as to prevent the block turning round the pin 8. The wall extension member 13 is secured direct by staples 14 to the pins 8. Specification 729,079 is referred to.
