Class 78(1) A trough for an endless chain scraper conveyer composed of individual sections detachably connected together in end-to-end fashion, each section consisting of two identical trough section portions the floors of which are connected with each other with a gap between them is characterized in that the floor of each trough section portion is extended at one end in the longitudinal direction of, and beyond the side walls of, the trough section portion, said extended part 'of the floor being cranked out of the plane of the remainder of the floor to enable it to enter the gap between the two floors of the adjacent trough section. In the embodiment shown wherein each section comprises upper and lower trough members 1, 2 connected by U-pieces 5 welded to the floors 3, 4 of the members 1, 2, the cranked extension 7 of the floor 3 of one section extends under the corresponding floor of the adjacent section whilst a cranked extension 8 of the floor 4 extends over the end of the corresponding floor 4 of the adjacent section. The sections are secured to one another by cranked tongues 10 at the end of one section which extend between strips 12, 13 at the end of the adjacent section, bolts 14 being driven through holes 15, 16 in the strips 12; 13 and through holes 11 in the tongues 10. These tongues are tapered or rounded at their ends to permit inclination of adjacent sections with respect tb one another in the vertical direction.
