Abstract

729,061. Winding yarn. SCRAGG & SONS, Ltd., E., and FINDLOW, E. Oct. 29, 1953 [Oct. 11, 1952], No. 25533/52. Class 120(2). In a textile winding machine, especially an up-twister, of the kind in which the yarn is wound into a package 11, preferably rotated by a drum 10 and having a horizontal axis and a yarn guide 19 mounted on a carrier 16 reciprocated by rods 14, 15, parallel to the package axis, the yarn guide 19 is carried by one arm 17a of a bell crank lever 17, the other arm 17b of which, carrying a bowl 20, is urged into contact with a plain bearing face 21 of a former bar 22, means, e.g. a link 27 adjustably connected to the arms supporting the package 11 being provided to incline the bar 22 relatively to the line of reciprocation of the carrier 16 as the diameter of the package increases, so as to form a package with tapered ends.
